Jozko Models: From Idea to Product

How a Polish patternmaker prepares for the future

Today, computer aided design, animation and simulation plays an increasingly important role for designing better products. However, in order to really test the final design, engineers need to produce concept models and functional test parts quickly and inexpensively. In the last years, new Rapid Prototyping technologies like 3D printers helped to speed up this process. 3D Printers create physical models directly from 3D files utilizing High performance composites or elastomeric material.

INglass grows with SolidCAM+SolidWorks

The INglass Group of San Polo di Piave, Italy, was founded in 1987 as “Incos” to design and manufacture molds for the plastic injection industry. In 1991, Incos began specializing in multi-color and multi-component rotary molds for automotive lightings. Based on the experience gained in this sector, the company set up in 2001 its HRSflow division, dedicated to the design and production of hot-runner injection molding systems for plastic materials. [more...]

CKD corporation shortens lead time with SolidCAM

CKD found out that shortening of the preparation time, namely the time to generate NC toolpaths, is as important as shortening of the machining time. Since CKD manufactures a whole variety of different parts for the production lines, efficient CNC programming for each of the parts is key to minimize the overall system lead time. Formerly, the machining section worked with two different CAM systems, one for 2.5D machining and one for 3D machining. The reason was that the 2.5D CAM system was unable to create 3D tool paths, and the 3D CAM system was unsuitable to create 2.5D tool paths. So, they sometimes had to combine both CAM systems to create a single toolpath - a very time-consuming process. [more...]
